Recognized courses of study

Since February 2022, courses of study in lighting at three German universities have been recognized by ELEA. At the end of 2022, the bachelor course Physics of Light and Lighting Design and the master course Lighting Technology at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands were also certified.

Students from the universities listed below can register as European Lighting Expert (ELE) for interior and/or exterior lighting depending on the course content. The prerequisite for this is study at a university recognized by ELEA and proof that the respective learning objectives have been taught and examined to a comparable and corresponding extent in the course of study.

Students seeking registration as ELEs provide evidence of their qualifications based on the modules they have taken and examined. For this purpose, interested students submit all required evidence to their responsible teacher of the course at the university, who confirms it in writing and forwards it to the ELEA examination management. A transcript of records is required as proof. Please note the possible individual requirements of each university.

For the registration ELEA charges a fee of 25€.
