Philosophy

The European Lighting Expert Association (ELEA) was founded in 2016 with the aim of establishing a uniform European educational standard in the field of light and lighting. This educational standard requires European Lighting Experts to have a broad knowledge and sets high standards, which, however, do not necessarily require a university education. The ELEA is always striving to gain new member organisations in order to establish this standard in other European countries.

ELEA’s philosophy includes independent, cross-national quality management of the examinations defined in terms of content, scope and procedure. These examinations are intended to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical planning skills. To ensure that employers and customers can always rely on up-to-date knowledge and the latest developments with European Lighting Experts, ELEA requires regular further training and proof of practical activity. Only then can the certificate, which is valid for five years, be renewed.
